I encounter a lot of people who don’t understand how a business coach is different than a life coach or executive coach. If you’re one of them, you’re probably thinking, “you coach people, not businesses, right?”
As a business coach, I generally work with people who have bottom-line responsibility. In a confidential trust-based relationship, my clients and I focus on time, team, and money to work smarter – not harder – to grow profitably. Does that have an impact on their lives? Absolutely! They are in a much better position to achieve their professional and personal goals. By focusing on the business, the other results follow.
How would we work together? We start with a free, no-obligation, consultation to see what your needs are and whether I am the right person to help you address them. Generally, this starts with a 15-20-minute phone call, and if it makes sense, a one-hour meeting. If I feel like you will get a return on investment of your time and money, and you get the impression that I can add value to your efforts, we agree to start working together.
As a FocalPoint coach, I use a world-class, proven methodology that can be customized to your needs and budget. Generally, once we get started, we schedule a regular time to meet in person or via videoconference. You will receive a short assignment in advance of our meeting, to stimulate your thinking and guide our discussion; most weeks it will take no more than 15 minutes. We will talk about challenges, brainstorm solutions, and identify action items – all at your pace. Then we track those action items and celebrate wins and make adjustments, as needed.
Coaching can be done one-on-one, or in small groups (from different organizations, or in the same management team). Both formats can be very effective. The process is generally the same, although the pacing and session times vary. I want to do what works best for YOU.
